character information
● name: Stan Uris
● canon: It (movie 2017)
● canon point: End of the movie
● age: 13
● (canon) background: Wiki
● abilities: Knowledge of bird species and bird watching
● strengths:
+ Methodical and Logical
Stan's way of approaching the world is rather methodical and logical, which is a bit tied into how he is slightly OCD and desperately wants the world to be natural and make sense. He carefully thinks through his problems and the problems of his friends and tries to find logical solutions even when they don't really fit.
+ Diligent
Stan cares for how people perceive him. He wants to live up to his father's expectations and even as he's struggling with preparing for his Bar Mitzvah due to everything else going on he does his best. He tries to respect his family and his religion. He's studious and treats such things with respect.
+ Intelligent
As stated above, Stan is probably one of the more studious of the group but more out of duty than fun. He is smart and would appear to do well in most of his studies. He also appreciates the time for fun and does try to provide a balance between responsibility and being a kid.
● weaknesses:
- Harsh with others
He also has a tendency to reply with dry jokes that roast people (namely Richie). He's a bit harsh in this at times but he has little patience for ridiculous behavior especially when something serious is also going on. Sometimes this can be beneficial and amusing but it's often can come off as cold and rude. He usually doesn't mean any ill, though.
- OCD
When it comes to Stan, his OCD is a little less about methods and patterns but more of an aversion to the unnatural. He can't stand when things are out of order. The painting in his father's office bothers him for both the unnaturalness of the woman in the painting and the fact that it is constantly askew or falling. He consistently works to keep it properly hanging even though the painting leaves him extremely uncomfortable.
In a way, he is less afraid of It than he is made uncomfortable by the unnatural-ness of It.
He wants things to be natural and orderly and he avoids to the best of his ability things that are not and corrects what he can.
- Can be a bit of a buzzkill
Stan is quite often the voice of reason and logic among his friends. He is the most skeptical about believing what they're seeing with It is real. He doesn't want to accept it and tries to insist that it can't be real.
